Pre-Algebra Classes 2024-2025 Homeschool Resource Center 307 S. Parsons Ave. Brandon, 33511 Tuesdays from August 20th to April 29th (32 weeks) 10:15-11:30 Pre-Algebra (Grades 6-8) Pre-Algebra teaches the basic rules of solving equations using the associative, commutative, and other properties. Simple operations with polynomials are demonstrated with multisensory strategies for conceptual understanding before being taught conventionally. Geometry concepts include surface area, volume, and the Pythagorean theorem. **There will be regular homework assignments (approx 30 mins/daily) for this class.** Prerequisites: The student should have a solid mastery of the four operations, fractions, decimals, variables, inequalities, basic knowledge of exponents, and geometry (such as perimeter and area). Key Learning Objectives: - Fluently adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing positive and negative numbers
- Understanding and simplifying exponents
- Using properties of operations, order of operations, and absolute value
- Expanding understanding of place value
- Evaluating radicals
- Identifying the least common multiple and greatest common factor
