Middle School Tuesdays!

Tuesdays beginning August 20th and running 32 weeks (yearlong course)

1:15-2:15 PM

 

This class will focus on different types of literature studies. We will incorporate some writing and language arts, as well as spelling and vocabulary.

There will be 1 oral presentation per semester.

Required Reading books will need to be purchased ahead of time.

Read Aloud books are optional to purchase to follow along in class.

Requirements: (to purchase ahead of time)

The Giver by Lois Lowry (1st semester)

The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S.Lewis (1st semester)

Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Franks (1st semester)

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (2nd semester)

Wonder by R.J. Palacio (2nd semester)

Tucker Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt (2nd semester)

*Bring a Binder and pencils each week*

Read Alouds: (not required to purchase, but optional)

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl (1st semester)

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (2nd semester)

Teacher Bio:

Hi! I am Melissa Joiner. I am a Christian. I have a degree in Elementary Education. I taught for 5 years in public and Christian schools prior to homeschooling my 3 children. I have been homeschooling since 2012. I love all things music, flamingos, creating things, and tacos.

Registration is $370 per student for the year. This is payable by a $70 non-refundable deposit to the Tampa Bay HEAT. The balance may be paid directly to the instructor. You may pay the deposit online, drop payment by the HRC or mail to Tampa Bay HEAT, 1011 Knowles Rd. Brandon, 33511.
