Introduction to Photography Middle School-Adult Homeschool Resource Center 307 S. Parsons Ave. in Brandon, 33511 Registration is $165 Fridays from 1:30-3:00 PM beginning September 6th and running for 12 weeks Introduction to Photography The Introduction to Photography class will be a fun and interactive twelve week course covering three main categories: Expression, Perspective/Composition, and Skill. The course will also cover a brief history of photography and explore the works of thirteen famous photographers including greats such as Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Annie Leibovitz and Jay Maisel. An emphasis will be placed on hands on learning and exploring (we’ll make a camera out of an empty Pringles can on week 1!) and students will be expected to practice assignments during the week and turn in one photo per week for class critique. Any camera available to the student, including cell phone cameras, will work. If possible, we will take a field trip to a local museum before the end of the semester. This class will be sufficient for ½ credit in Fine Arts. Instructor Bio: Nancy is a priest’s wife and mom of seven ages 25 to 8. She has been homeschooling for almost 23 years. The first four have graduated and gone on to college and careers and she will have two high schoolers and a 4th grader in the fall. She took her first photography class through her local 4H club at the age of 10. She was on her high school yearbook team and worked as lifestyle editor and photographer for a newspaper in Waxahachie, Texas, after college and until her oldest was 10 months old. She has taught photography and other classes at local co-ops and worked as a tutor and director for Classical Conversations for three years. The Intro to Photography class is one of her favorites and she is excited to help more students learn to express themselves through the art of photography. |
