ELEMENTARY READING CLASSES with Wendy Fall 2024 Homeschool Resource Center 307 S. Parsons Ave. Brandon, 33511 Mondays beginning August 19th and run for 12 weeks No classes Labor Day Cost $165 Early Bird Registration Beginning Reading Class (ages 4 and 5) 11:30-12:30 This class will focus on building foundational literacy skills with phonemic awareness and alphabet knowledge (letter names, sounds and forms). Lessons will be engaging while using a multisensory approach. Primary Reading Class (ages 6-8) 9:00-10:00 AM This class will focus on developing automaticity with decoding while incorporating spelling. We will work on vocabulary (common prefixes and suffixes) and active reading strategies (to build comprehension). Intermediate Reading Class (ages 8+) 10:15-11:15 AM This class will help students develop reading comprehension through fluency and active reading strategies. Teacher Bio: Wendy Liller currently holds a Florida Professional Teaching certificate and received a Master of Arts in Education degree with a concentration in special education from the University of Washington. She has worked as a classroom teacher, a homeschool teacher/tutor, and a reading therapist and, combined, has over 12 years’ of experience in these fields.
