Track and Field is a sport that consists of several events. These events include athletics such as running, jumping, and throwing. Most of the events are individual but a few, like relay events, involve a team.

Running events include:
· sprints (100m, 200m, 400m),
· middle distance (800m, 1600m)
· long distance (3200m )
· hurdles (110/100m, 300m)
· relays (4x100m, 4x400m)
· Field Events. Jumping events; Long jump, High jump, Pole vault,
· Throwing events; Shot put, Discus, and Javelin (new)
Please note: If you have an athlete who is high school aged or 7th-8th grade that you feel is at a high school level and would like to try out for the high school team, there is mandatory FHSAA paperwork that must be completed.
FHSAA Paperwork Information:
* The FHSAA paperwork is mandatory and has a strict deadline of Monday, January 29th. There are forms to go to the county and a physical is required, so do not wait until the last minute to complete! You cannot tryout for the team until paperwork has been submitted.
*New-to-HEAT athletes complete this list:
EL7 (including EL7V), EL2, EL3, GA4, EL9 with updated transcript with cumulative GPA* and age verification (attach copy of birth certificate).
*Returning HEAT athletes complete this one:
EL7V (page 3 of the EL7 form), EL2, EL3 and updated transcript with cumulative GPA. Winter/Spring athletes will also need EL9.
There are special forms available for those on the PEP scholarship.

High School Track and Field
Season starts in January. Ends Mid May.
Practice days are Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs at Stearns Park

Weekly track meets start mid-February and will be on a Thursday evening, a Friday evening or Saturday morning/afternoon. Athletes need to participate in a minimum of 5 meets thru the regular season. The schedule usually has about 8 track meets.
Season fees are $300. Turn in all FHSAA paperwork by January 17th and receive a $25 discount on your season fees.
