Tampa Bay HEAT Flag Football for 4th-8th Grade Tryouts will be Monday, 1/6 , Tuesday, 1/7, and Thursday 1/9 3-5pm Players should bring plenty of water (much more than a 20 oz. bottle). Practices: Mon 1/13, Tues 1/14, Thur 1/16 Mon 1/20, Tues 1/21, Thur 1/23 Games start the last week of January I'll have the game and practice dates for the rest of the season once we have the league meeting. No metal cleats at tryouts or practices. Teams will be coed unless we have enough girls for a separate girls team. Games and practices might change depending on coach, opposing team schedule, and field availability. Please drive slowly on Stearns road. Players must bring water to every practice. JV games will be at 3:30pm. Varsity games will be at 4:30pm. Teams need to arrive 30 minutes early to games for warm-ups. Parents are responsible for their player's travel to and from games and practices. Games are in the Tampa area not more than 45 minutes from Brandon. Placement on the teams is competitive and play time will not be equal or guaranteed. All players, coaches, and fans are expected to have outstanding sportsmanship at all games and practices. Tampa Bay HEAT is in the TBCAL league which is comprised of area private schools. The farthest team is about 40 minutes away with most teams in the Brandon area. Season fees $150 and jersey payments $30 will be paid to team mom the week before the first game starts. If you played soccer then you do not need to purchase an additional jersey. Players will need to provide their own black shorts for the games. . Cleats with no metal spikes (like soccer cleats) are highly recommended for each player. Jewelry and pocketed shorts are not allowed by referees during the game. Mouth guards are recommended during practice and games. Football gloves are optional. You must be a current Heat member to play competitive flag football. This is a competitive team and play time will not be equal. We do, however, try to develop our less experienced players at practice and at games that are not close in score.
