Beginner Archery Program

If bows and arrows intrigue your kids, sign them up for an 8-week class. This class will introduce basic techniques to shoot a compound bow such as stance, anchoring position, aiming points and arm positions. The class will also address the important safety rules for the shooting range. The 8-weeks provide the building blocks to prepare your kids to advance to the competitive team.

Ages: 4th grade to 12th Grade

Bows and arrows provided

Mondays 4:30-5:30pm

August 26th-October 21st (Labor Day off)

** you must have completed a beginner class before you can be in Fall club or on a Tournament team.

Registration is $88 per athlete.

Note to parents: This will be the only beginner class offered in 2024-2025 school year.  There may be cases where your child is too small and does not have the arm span to safely draw a bow; in these cases, there are safety issues to consider, and the coaches will discuss alternative options with the parents. Also consider the summer boot camp to advance your child to the team quicker. If you take the boot camp you do not need to take the beginner class.

Recreational and Competitive Archery Teams

Holiday break from 12/16 - 1/6

Club Class(non- competition/shooting for fun):

Elementary Tournament Team: 2:30-3:30

Middle School Tournament Team: 3:30-4:30

High School Tournament Team: 4:30-5:45

Competitive team shooters must own your own bow (Matthew's Genesis Bow with 1820 Easton Arrows), practice arrows provided

Must purchase a team jersey in order to compete. Sold separate through HRC or online store.

If registering for a Tournament Team, an archer needs to be prepared to commit to 4 out of 6 tournaments. The only tournament fee covered by your registration paid to HEAT is the State Tournament. All other tournament fees will be collected before the event. Most of the tournaments are $7-$8. Last year we didn’t have these dates this far in advance and that created some scheduling conflicts. We are hoping having these planned this far out and only expecting a commitment for one out of the three BOK tournaments will help with this season.

HEAT Fire and Ice Tournament

710 E. Bloomingdale Avenue

Brandon, Fl 33511

12/14/24 from 8-4

HEAT Sunshine Shootout Tournament

213 Knights Avenue

Brandon, Fl 33511

3/8/25 from 8-4

BOK Academy usually hosts 3 tournaments. We do not currently have those dates. We are working on getting them. Archer should be committed to one out of three BOK tournaments.

These tournaments take place at

210 Presidents Drive,

Lake Wales, Fl 33859

FL NASP State Championship Tournament

Alachua County Sports and Events Center

4870 Celebration Point Avenue

Gainesville , FL 32608

4/11/25-4/12/25

We will be looking for other tournaments to attend. If tournaments are added to the calendar, there will not be a required commitment to those new additions.

Please reach out to head coach Kevin and Katie Damron at [email protected] or [email protected] if you need to discuss scheduling conflicts with the dates listed above.

Since our practice range is outside, we are at the mercy of the weather and may have to occasionally cancel a practice.

Registration is $225 per athlete for Elementary and MS and $250 per athlete for High School

Our Team's Motto

"Shoot Straight"; in life we make decisions, choices and actions that depend upon glorifying God! We don't become bent arrows as they never fly straight again!

Due to the overwhelming response to be part of the archery program, additional time slots and classes may open up. Time slots prior to 4:30 pm are subject to move around to accommodate more kids.

About National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP)

NASP® is an activity that doesn’t discriminate based on popularity, athletic skill, gender, size, or academic ability. It’s a different kind of team sport. It’s open to any student. Teams come together around one thing: Archery.

The National Archery in the Schools Program is an in-school program aimed at improving educational performance among students in grades 4th – 12th. And through it, students are learning focus, self-control, discipline, patience, and the life lessons required to be successful in the classroom and in life.
