Tampa Bay History Center Field Trip 801 Old Water Street Tampa, FL 33602 Date: Friday, November 10th Time: 10:30 AM (meet at 10:15) Trip description: Take a guided tour of the Bay Area’s History! From the earliest native peoples and Seminole Wars, to the growth of industry and transportation the History Center covers 12,000 years of Florida’s history and heritage with a focus on the Tampa Bay region. 2nd floor ● Florida's First People Discover the origins and lifestyle of Florida’s earliest human inhabitants and how the cultures of different tribes compare. ● Cigar City/Immigrants Learn about the many cultural contributions of immigrant communities and their impact on Ybor City and Tampa. ● Seminole Wars and Culture Understand how the Seminole tribe formed, the purpose for their migration, and their efforts to endure by continuing to adapt to a changing Florida. 3rd floor ● History Hunt Work in teams as you explore the 3rd-floor gallery for artifacts and information to answer questions about 19th and 20th century Tampa Bay. 4th floor ● The Exploration of Florida Identify key explorers who came to Florida, the motivations for their expeditions and their effects on Native American tribes. ● Pirates of Florida & movie Pirate's Fate Learn about the real pirates that prowled the waters of Florida and the Caribbean and how they lived. During the Pirate’s Fate movie students choose their adventure aboard a stolen sloop in this 8-minute lively presentation. This is a docent-guided tour. The Columbia Cafe is also operating for a perfect picnic lunch. No onsite parking available. Use Channelside Garage There are also a few limited, metered parking spots on Old Water Street, along Cotanchobee Park. Registration is $10 for adults and $8 for students. Kids 6 and under are free.
