High School American History 2024-2025 Homeschool Resource Center 307 S. Parsons Ave. Brandon, FL 33511 Fridays from August 23rd to May 2nd (32 weeks) 11:45-1:00 PM We will be discovering American history beginning with Jamestown in 1607 and continuing until contemporary events. Heavy focus will be spent on the American Revolutionary War, the Constitution, the Civil War, WWI, WWII, & Vietnam to name a few. The LifePac curriculum comes with 10 smaller workbooks that we will follow, but will not be using exclusively. Students can expect projects, videos, worksheets, open book tests, and weekly reading. As always, it’s my job to make learning fun and interesting. The text says grade 11, but rest assured it is appropriate for 9th-12th grades. You will want to purchase the workbook sets only without the teaching manual. I’ve included two links below where you can find them. For 32 weeks of class, the fee is $420. This is payable as follows: a $70 non-refundable deposit to the Tampa Bay HEAT. You may pay this online when you register for the class. This will hold your place in the class. The remaining balance $350 will be paid directly to the instructor before the first day of class by cash, checks, PayPal *as friends and family*, CashApp, and Venmo. Teacher Bio: My name is Amy Loesch and I will be teaching English 101, 201, Creative Writing, Public Speaking, and History. I graduated in 2009 with a BA in Religious Education. I continued my MA in Teaching in Secondary English, but had to stop shy of my semester of student teaching due to deployment. Since then, I've been a substitute teacher at Providence Classical Christian Academy in St. Louis, MO, have been homeschooling my four children since winter of 2016, and have taught numerous classes with the HEAT program. My philosophy is that no student learns exactly the same as another and that learning should be hard work but FUN! |
