Middle School Spanish Classes 2023-2024 School Year Homeschool Resource Center 307 S. Parsons Ave. Brandon, 33511 Tuesdays from August 22nd to April 30th (32 weeks) 11:45 AM-12:45 PM Exploring Spanish A Middle School (grades 6-8) This course is for beginning students with little or no previous knowledge or exposure to Spanish. Students will be introduced to the sound system and grammatical structure of the Spanish language. The focus will be on developing skills, mainly in the areas of listening and speaking. Students develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills useful in everyday life within the context of these five units: My House, My Room, My Family and Friends, My Activities, and My Classes. Textbook: Spanish for You! Mi vida (provided by instructor) Materials: 3-ring binder, 5 subject dividers, notebook paper and pencils. Teacher will provide the student textbook and all handouts (included in the price of the class). Instructor Bio Hi, my name is Shelley Whisenant and I have been teaching something, somewhere since 1991! We have 5 kids ages 13-23, and all of them have been homeschooled. Even though I started my teaching career as a Spanish teacher in public school, as I moved into my role as a homeschool mom, somewhere along the way I started teaching Math and English as a Second Language classes too. I have taught all levels of math through Algebra II and all levels of Spanish through Dual Enrollment in community college. I have a heart for struggling learners and make sure all of the classes I teach are accessible for all learners. In August of 2022 we relocated to Florida from Virginia so we are completing our first year of classes with HEAT. This coming school year will be my first year teaching with HEAT.
